The stoning of St. Stephen was also memorialized in many paintings, one of which by Rembrandt is shown in figure 60. As in other paintings produced over the years, the offending Jews are clearly identified by their yellow hats.
Blaming and castigating the Jews living in one period for something their distant Hebrew ancestors may have done millennia ago is not uncommon. It still happens today.
