- 2015: During a Spotlight Poet Tribute to Maetal Gerson at Milken Community Schools on October 15, Mel Wacks, Director of the Jewish-American Hall of Fame, presented Junior Maetal Gerson with a $500 dollar check and an award medal as the grand winner of the Norman E. Alexander Award for Excellence in Jewish Student Writing for her essay on composer Aaron Copland. The contest was sponsored by the Jewish-American Hall of Fame, Fresh Ink for Teens, and The Jewish Week (New York). Alexander Award for Excellence in Jewish Student Writing for his essay on scientist Leonard Adlemen. The contest was sponsored by the Jewish-American Hall of Fame, Fresh Ink for Teens, and The Jewish Week (New York). - 2016: Television personality Larry King received the Emma Lazarus Statue of Liberty Award from the American Jewish Historical Society at a gala dinner on December 1st. The Emma Lazarus medal was designed by Gerta Ries Wiener, and issued by the Jewish-American Hall of Fame in 1983.
